New EKOS poll puts Greens at 18% in BC

I’m pleased to see the latest EKOS poll has the Greens at 17.6% in British Columbia. I don’t place too much stock in individual polls, but there have been a couple of polls now showing a Greens surge in BC following Elizabeth May’s announcement that she will run in Saanich–Gulf Islands in the next election. I’ll take this as a further indication that her candidacy is being well-received by BCers. Onward and upward!

The EKOS poll also indicates the continued strength of the Greens among voters under 25 years old. Nationally, there’s a decent four-way split among the Liberals (28.7%), Conservatives (24.0%), Greens (20.1%), and NDP (18.8%). I’m planning a post in the near future on the awesome work the Young Greens have been doing to capitalize on this support and energize young voters, including some sweet campus club kits, new buttons, literature and other initiatives. Stay tuned!
