Green Party launches redesigned website!
It turns out the Young Greens aren’t the only ones with a flashy new website… the Green Party has completed and launched a redesign of its own — check it out here.
I think it’s a definite step up from the old site. Not only does it seem more user-friendly and better-organized to me, it’s issues-focused and highlights social media. Check out Elizabeth May’s Twitter feed at the bottom of the main page. Also, I’m loving the colours! Tossing in some burgundy to break up the green is brilliant. Back in the day, yellow was the colour most often used to contrast with the green. Not quite so pretty, in my opinion. The shades of green used on the redesigned site are also more appealing to me than some that have been used in the past. It’s always tricky to choose a green that looks just right.
What do you think, readers?
Looks pretty sharp all right.
Haven’t had time to look around. But the home page is sharp and draws people to jump-offs.
I think you understate how bad the old site was- so the comparison is quite a surprise.
I agree on the colour choice.
The Elizabeth May Party of Canada finally has a proper website
A slideshow of photos – all of Elizabeth. And her twitter feed at the bottom so I can keep track of her every activity in her last months as leader.
The links for Federal Council and Shadow Cabinet lead, unsurprisingly, to “Not Found” messages. Ironic.
Such a refreshing improvement.
I like the new site look but not the fact that the blogs are continuing to be systematically pushed into the background. I hate having to search a dozen websites for GP blogs. Soon enough I’ll cut down or give up on it all together. It’s just no fun anymore.
Through the magic of networking and critical community mass, individual Green blogs would get exponentially more attention if they were all in the same forum than they get adding up the individual attention they receive when spread out, if ya know what I mean.
YES
And the last straw for most of my team as well.
The blogs are how we got most of our members in “our” group as most are very internet savvy.
The “Glitch postings” are the most used on our re-posts
Too bad…Oh well………….
I will never become a TWIT …..so I am unsure who will go on that way with Twitter.
I today heard from so many and as I predicted E May killed their spirits.
So many have told me they quit today officially.
My best recruiters have quit and will stay quit until the leadership review after E May and the E May party blow all 4 by elections pretending to be just like the rest.
You are correct John it certainly looks like the E May Party.
I am very disappointed in this new development in the party.
But the young Greens ?….well I even posted it else where because they at least seem real.
And about inclusion.
I watched Jack ….try to become Jean ….then Paul.. now Steve
I wont watch others turn into Jack.
Small moments in time where anything is possible …are rare and I understand why now.
Cheers to those of you truly Green.
Silly me to think it was time and I had found the one…..
18 years in.
Camille,
“… back in the day….”
I think there’s a law where you have to be over 40 to use that phrase… at least there was, back in the day.
Will (and well over 40).
Picking a phrase out of the somewhat-incoherent comment by Mr. Shavluk:
In between general elections, by-elections are traditionally considered a test of a party’s strength.
By-elections allow a small party like the Greens to “bear down” and focus our limited resources on a small number of ridings. We might – as in LNC in 2006 – punch above our weight.
Young Greens could use these by-elections to earn respect within the party, by organizing phone canvassing etc. (No I’m not going to hold my breath. It’s a lot more fun to create an “edgy” website
Phone canvassing is hard.
However, since Elizabeth is not running in any of these by-elections, I expect them to be totally ignored. Welcome to the Elizabeth May Party of Canada.
Yeah John I guess I limit myself in some ways or just more likely delegate myself to only those who can possibly get the message.
My style
In fact when I started that last post I was responding to yours.
About my disappointment with the lack of democracy again.
Obviously no biggy…LOL
I guess if I cared I could go on and on explaining down to the most basic level…but I was only writing …in reality …. to those that already know anyway and they got it all themselves any way
I just find so many different decisions
and I guess can not just not say so
I notice you do as well
I do not pretend to be anyones worst critic…but I guess I am one…..and just speak my mind
I think not exploiting the by elections is a big mistake.
No offense to any candidates but if it was deemed a priority to elect E May one could speculate about her running in either of at least two of the by election spots very easily.
Different decision than my thoughts
and depressing with their full scope applied…I guess
ps
I will try to hide my grammar disability better if I ever do write here again …though.
Cheers
